Back in the air-conditioned gown, again!

Another routine bone marrow test brings us to BroMenn this fine day. Mom will start the chemo pills next week, so Dr. Jeong does a bone marrow test first just to make sure everything is looking ok.

If you know my mother, you know she NEVER shows up late. She was told to get to the hospital at 7:30 am to slip into something less-comfortable and get all hooked up to the heart monitor, blood pressure machine, IV, and whatever else they decide to hook her up to. Dr. Jeong is scheduled to perform the bone marrow aspiration at 8:30 am. So, a little after 7 mom arrives. She gets poked, stabbed, velcro'd, taped, and is then left to wait.... and we wait.... and wait.

At one point the nurse said "I've known Dr. Jeong to be late, but he's never forgotten a patient!" Hmmmm, what do you think the outcome of this will be?

That's right. The nurse finally got a hold of him and he had indeed forgot. He came flying in at 10:30 apologizing and feeling terrible. And he had no one to blame but himself -- HE had made the appointment. Mom was right there with him in his office as he called and made the arrangements.

But you know, for the 20+ years that he has been doing this, I think it's ok that he forgot - we'll let it slide! This man saves lives and gives years to patients every day. What did 2 hours hurt? We know he was using them wisely!
