Here we are, a year later. If you recall, this journey started with an annual OB/GYN check-up which led to a bone marrow test. On Tuesday of this week Mom went for her annual check-up and then had a bone marrow test on Friday. It seems like we have done this before!
But don't fret, everything is going good. The annual check-up is just routine and the bone marrow test is the routine 3-month check. It's just funny that both of these ended up on the calendar just as they did 365 days ago.
At the hospital for the bone marrow test, we got to see our friend CJ. You may remember her from the picc line post. She has a very lively presence and makes you laugh no matter what.
And you need a good laugh if your hand looks like that! Mom was poked 8 times while at the annual check-up, then had an MRI done (she hurt her back last week and the dr. ordered an MRI to see what was going on) and they drew blood and injected dye into her. Lots of poking.... and bruising!
Before they did the MRI they had to do some tests on her liver to see if it was functioning ok after all that chemo went through and to make sure it can handle processing the dye for the MRI. Who would have thought of that? I guess we're glad the doctors do.
So, as they tried and tried to get blood and start an IV at the hospital, her hand took a beating. We will find out the results of the bone marrow test on Wednesday and mom will start on the maintenance chemo pills next week.
